The CEFP (Certified Educational Facilities Professional) is the credential for both aspiring and existing senior-level educational facilities professionals with a combined eight 8 years (or points) of education and work experience. This course is offered at no cost through APPA (formerly the Association of Physical Plant Administrators). In addition to knowledge-based questions, the CEFP examination is designed to test and validate both professional experience and the sound application of knowledge. Interested applicants must have at least 8 years of combined education and experience to qualify for the CEFP course and exam.
Eligible and interested employees should follow these action steps:
- Speak with supervisor
- Initiate Rutgers DocuSign form (both the employee and supervisor will sign)
- Employee follows registration instructions found on the APPA website. If assistance is needed during registration, please email certification@appa.org.
Employees should then be able to join a cohort group (several cohort groups open per year) for the exam. Those utilizing the coupon (Coupon Code: ERAPPACEFP) must take the exam within 90 days of completing the course. For more information, please visit the APPA website and the brochure.
