Business Services is a diverse group of professionals providing valued services to the university community. We strive for outstanding service delivery, innovation, and continuous improvements. Business Services also serves as IP&O’s advocate and resource on financial, budget, accounting, economic development, and IT.

Essential Campus Services

We keep Rutgers running smoothly with core services that touch every corner of the university. Mail Services processes millions of packages and pieces of mail each year, while Material & Logistical Services handles moving, surplus, warehousing, and fleet management to support day-to-day operations.

Enhancing the Rutgers Experience

Beyond operations, we enrich campus life with resources and spaces for the community. This includes the Rutgers Golf Course, Barnes & Noble Bookstore, and housing options for faculty and staff, along with records management to safeguard Rutgers’ history and compliance needs.

The Economic Development Group, ("EDG") promotes business and economic development interests within Institutional Planning and Operations, the university, and the local community. EDG is responsible for maintaining operating budgets, property and lease management, rent collection and tenant insurance and licensing compliance. EDG also provides oversight of Rutgers Faculty and Staff Short Term Housing Program, Rutgers Cinema, kite+key Rutgers Tech Store, and TeKCheK Rutgers Computer Repair Service. The group initiates marketing and event planning around campus that promotes brand awareness for these programs.

The Faculty and Staff Housing program offers short-term apartment rentals to all faculty and staff in need of temporary housing. Leases can be as short as one month to a maximum of one year. An inventory of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments are located in Highland Park, New Brunswick, and on the Busch Campus in Piscataway.

Mail Services is the mail distribution hub for all department and student mail. They deliver close to 400,000 packages annually, process over 1,700,000 pieces of incoming mail, and over 1,500,000 outgoing pieces. They also handle UPS packages for students.

Business Services is responsible for the lease management of all retail operations located in student housing buildings and other areas throughout all three campuses. Business Services manages internal business ventures that include Rutgers Cinema, kite+key, Rutgers Tech Store and TeKCeK, and Rutgers Computer Repair Services.

Rutgers operates one of the largest collegiate housing programs in the country with over 19,000 students living on campus.
