All REHS offered trainings are located in the Training Calendar at myrehs.rutgers.edu. We offer many different trainings to target the needs of our university community.

Laboratory researchers:

Laboratory Safety training covers chemical safety, bloodborne pathogens and biosafety  (including plant biosafety) in a combined training session. The online refresher module requires users to select to include the topics of bloodborne pathogens/biosafety and/or plant biosafety based upon their anticipated work. It is recommended that users select to include for 'biosafety' when asked on the Training Registration page. This training is required initially and annually, thereafter.

An online Viral Vector training module is available and required for persons working with viral vectors. This is a one-time only training.

Persons shipping biological materials using a commercial carrier must attend IATA Shipping Training (required every 2 years). Online Materials of Trade (MOT) Training is required for persons using their personal vehicles to transport research specimens (required every 3 years). Contact biosafety@rutgers.edu for more information on Shipping and Transportation of specimens!

Clinical Faculty and Staff:

An online Clinical Health and Safety training module is available to serve as both initial and annual refresher training. This module satisfies the training requirement for the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and covers other relevant topics such as Respiratory Hygiene, TB Awareness, Sharps Safety, Emergency Procedures, Regulated Medical Waste and more.
