Visitors to the University can park in Lot 48 between the hours of 8:00am-2:00am on the Busch Campus across from the Visitors Center at no cost.  Visitors are defined by the University as persons not affiliated with Rutgers University. Use of this lot by any current student will result in one or more citations. If a visitor would like to park in other areas of the University they must purchase a permission from the Department of Transportation Services between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday for the cost of $5.00 a day.
Visitors may park in the Yellow or Green Lot on the Livingston Campus during the weekends between Friday 5:00pm till Monday morning at 6am without a permission. 
** Game day parking will apply during Football, Men’s and Women’s Basketball games.

Student Visitor Permission

A Student Visitor Permission is required for anyone visiting a student that needs to park in university parking areas for ANY length of time.

  • Must be obtained PRIOR to parking in a university parking area at the following locations and times:
  • Weekdays between 8:30am and 5:00pm - Department of Transportation services office at 55 Commercial Ave, New Brunswick, NJ Public Safety Building. 
    Cost is $5.00 per day

Rutgers One Day Visitor 

  • Issued to University departments to provide parking to visitors on a one day basis only. 
  • Parking is allowed with a permission in any common faculty/staff lot. The Department will list the lot number on the permission.
  • One day permissions are not valid on College Ave campus Monday through Friday before 5:00PM.
  • Permissions are invalid if not dated. 
  • Lot, plate and department # must be indicated. 
  • This permission is for use by visitors only (persons not affiliated with Rutgers University). 
  • Use of this permission by students, faculty or staff will result in a $100.00 citation for fraudulent use of permission.

RBHS One Day Visitor Permission 

  • Issued to RBHS departments to provide parking to visitors on a one day basis only. 
  • Parking is allowed with a permission in any common faculty/staff lot. The Department will list the lot number on the permission.
  • Permission are invalid if not dated.
  • Lot, plate and department # must be indicated. 
  • One day permissions are not valid on College Ave campus Monday through Friday before 5:00PM.
  • Effective immediately, permission will no longer be for as a journal entry charging your department's GL number.  The permission must now be paid for with an IPO.   Anyone who has access to Marketplace can create an IPO.  Select Internal Order form, and #3623 for RBHS One Day Parking Permissions.  Answer the questions and the requestor enters your GL or Project UDO string.  The process automatically creates a PO and your department's account is automatically charged.  A copy of the IPO must be submitted with your completed RBHS One Day Parking permission request form in order to process the permission request.

Non-Affiliate Permission

  • Issued to persons whose business is authorized to serve Rutgers such as Student Center vendors, Rutgers Bookstore employees, Campus Ministries that have been sanctioned by the Vice President of Student Affairs, persons who have been hired by departments as consultants, persons who are assisting Rutgers with research, volunteers providing a service to a department, ROTC staff members, persons who are providing a direct service to the University, such as the RU Federal Credit Union etc.
  • These permission run on a calendar year basis.
  • The cost of the permission is $213.25 annually, or $106.63 per half year; which includes 6.625% state sales tax.

Service Permission

  • Issued to service contractors/vendors providing a service for the university, who are not affiliated with the university.
  • A letter from the hiring department and/or a business card is necessary to register the vehicle.
  • Cost $100.00 (subject to 6.625% sales tax)

Metered Spaces (Very Limited)

Metered spaces are provided for the convenience of visitors to the university and in certain designated areas for short-term parking intended for official university business. To report a Malfunctioning meter please download the Malfunctioning Meter Report Form and submit it by email tolot_maintenance@ipo.rutgers.edu.
