The Economic Development Group, ("EDG") promotes the business and economic development interests within Institutional Planning and Operations, the university, and local community. EDG is responsible for maintaining operating budgets, property and lease management, rent collection and tenant insurance and licensing compliance. EDG also provides oversight of Rutgers Faculty and Staff Short Term Housing Program, Rutgers Cinema, kite+key Rutgers Tech Store, and TeKCheK Rutgers Computer Repair Service. The group initiates marketing and event planning around campus that promotes brand awareness for these programs.

Lease management for all retail operations located in student housing buildings throughout all campuses. Oversight of Rooftop Cellular agreements and point of contact for vendor equipment upgrade projects.

Rutgers Cinema, located at the Plaza at Livingston Campus, is Rutgers owned and operated state-of-the-art three-screen, first-run movie theater featuring digital projectors, stadium seating, and surround sound. Rutgers Cinema is open to the Rutgers community and the general public 365 days a year. Rutgers Cinema offers discounted pricing, matinees, extended show times, private screenings, promotional events, private party rental, as well as a full-line of concessions and an arcade. kite+key, Rutgers Tech Store is conveniently located on each of the Rutgers University campuses. kite+key provides the university community and the general public with a full line of products from well-known brands such as Apple, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Beats, and more. You can shop in store or online for computers, tablets, gaming systems, and accessories. Other services include leasing, trade-ins, and financing through Rutgers Federal Credit Union and Rutgers Faculty/Staff payroll deduction program. kite+key offers repair services through their in-house certified repair facility TeKCheK. In addition to computer repair, kite+key offers cell phone screen repair. Locations across all three campuses include kite+key Piscataway (located in The Plaza at Livingston Campus), Newark (located in the Hahne & Co.
