The Department of Transportation Services (DOTS) is committed to maintaining a safe and accessible parking environment across all Rutgers campuses. As part of this ongoing effort, citation fine amounts will be increased effective August 1, 2026.

These adjustments are intended to curb ongoing parking violations, promote compliance with University parking regulations, and improve overall parking availability for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Violations such as parking in unauthorized locations, misuse of ADA-accessible parking spaces, and failure to obtain the required permits create ongoing challenges for the campus community. The updated citation rates are designed to reinforce the importance of adhering to parking rules and to encourage responsible parking behavior.

We strongly encourage all drivers to:
•    Ensure their vehicle is registered with a valid permit
•    Park only in locations permitted by their specific permit type
•    Follow all posted signage and campus parking regulations
