Frequently Asked Questions Below is a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding the Rutgers Golf Course. Hopefully, we are able to assist you with your question here. If not, please feel free to Contact Us.

Do discounted student rates apply during the summer?

Yes, a $17 student rate will be applied Monday through Friday. Weekends and Holidays are $17 after 3pm with proper RU ID, with no exceptions.

How many credits must I carry to receive full-time Rutgers student rates?

Undergraduates must carry 12 credits, and graduate students must carry 9 credits.

How far in advance can I book a tee time?

The general public can book a tee time 6 days in advance; the 8-day members can book tee times 8 days in advance.

Can one person book multiple tee times under the same name?

While Rutgers University Golf Course tee time service allows for customers to make multiple tee times under the same profile, the customer whose name the reservations are booked under will be responsible for paying the greens fees for the total number of players booked.

How do I book a tee time?

You can book a tee time by visiting our website at ipo.rutgers.edu/business-services/golf-course.

What is the advantage of booking a tee time eight days in advance?

You have a three-day advantage over the general public. Rutgers Golf Course is extremely busy, so if you plan to play on a regular basis, it is a nice advantage to have.

Can I play golf without a reservation?

Yes, you can play without a reservation, but it is highly recommended that you make one, especially on weekends. If you are unable to make a definite reservation, we do have a walk in list in the pro shop.

Where do I pay my greens fees?

You pay for your greens fees at the Pro Shop, which is located across the street from the parking lot.

What are the course's hours of operation?

On weekdays we are open 6:30am until sunset. On weekends 5:30am until sunset.

Is there a practice facility?

Yes, we have a 28-bay mats-only driving range with a length of 300 yards. We also have a practice green and chipping area. If you are playing that day, we allow you to use the area to warm up. Otherwise, there is a fee of $15 for 90 minutes of use. With the fee, you are also given a range token good for 42 balls that you can hit on the range after you practice your short game.

What is the pace-of-play policy?

Pace of play is a priority at Rutgers University Golf Course (RUGC). The New Jersey State Golf Association rated and determined that RUGC is to be played in 3 hours and 57 minutes. With that in mind, we ask that each group keeps position in the field with the group ahead of them, not behind them.

What is the golf course like at Rutgers University Golf Course?

The RUGC has consistently been ranked by Golf Digest as a “Best Place to Play” for public courses. It is a comfortable and fair course to play, whether walking or riding. The greens are large and always well maintained, as is the whole course. It is a challenge to both the low as well as high-handicap players. Placement of drives often overrides distance.

What do I do if I lose a golf club?

If you become aware of it on the course, please ask a ranger. Otherwise, come into the Pro Shop and leave your contact information with the desk. When it is found, we will give you a call.

Can I take golf lessons?

Yes, RUGC has two teaching professionals, Lisa Jensen, PGA Class-A Teaching Professional, and Robert Carita, PGA Apprentice. You can schedule a lesson by calling the Pro Shop at (848) 445-2637.
