Colleagues:
Over the last two years, University Hospital has undergone an in-depth exercise that created a physical master plan to expand and modernize the facilities co-located on the Rutgers Health’s Newark campus. The plan, which includes aspects of the Rutgers 2030 campus master plan, has many components, one of which is the building of a new patient tower attached to the existing hospital. This work will continue University Hospital’s and Rutgers’ long-standing history of critical partnerships on the Newark campus.
To build that tower, Parking Deck P3 (DOC Deck) and the Doctors Office Center must be demolished. To enable this phase, the functions in these buildings must be relocated to two new buildings that will be constructed on a portion of the existing Administration Complex (ADMC) site.
Rutgers and University Hospital will work jointly to vacate ADMC 6 through 16, begin the demolition of the vacated buildings, and undertake the construction of a new structure that will include parking and administrative space.
On July 1, as shown on the map, Lot 8 and approximately half of Parking Lots 9 and 10 (south portion of the ADMC site) will be closed.
Those who normally park in the lot will be redirected to Deck P1 at 255 Norfolk Street. There will be added security patrols in the area and throughout the decks.

Thank you for your understanding as we begin this exciting and transformative project that will benefit employees, patients, and community members alike. We will continue to communicate updates as the project progresses.
