Newly built One-Stop student center on the Newark campus.

Rutgers One-Stop student customer service centers in Newark and Camden have been very effective in assisting students in non-academic issues such as financial aid, student accounts, and registration. IP&O’s Project Services has overseen the construction of One-Stop Centers in New Brunswick and Camden, and now, the newest One-Stop in Newark is complete.

“The student One Stop centers have proved to be an excellent resource for our students. They give our students a place to go where they can speak directly to someone to solve problems or ask questions,” said Nicholas Fabbroni, Associate Vice President, Project Services.

University Facilities’ Project Services group renovated historic Conklin Hall on the Newark Campus, which included the existing 12,312 square feet and an addition of 4,647 square feet. The project provides a new Student One-Stop and Commuter Lounge for the Rutgers-Newark campus.

“The building is one of Rutgers’ landmark properties,” Fabbroni explained. “The renovations were clearly needed. Including space for a commuter lounge was key, as it is often hard to find space for these needs in our urban campuses. It will clearly serve the students who attend Rutgers Newark.”

The majority of the renovation occurred on the first floor of the building and included a gut renovation of the existing space, removal of the majority of existing walls to facilitate a new floor plan layout, new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure, and a new addition and building façade upgrades on the first floor. The project also included a new staircase to the second floor, a new exterior elevator, and a pedestrian bridge at the south end of the building.
