College Avenue Quad Redevelopment - Phase 1: Brower Commons Demolition

As we continue to implement the Rutgers 2030 Master Plan, the Brower Commons demolition is the first step in redevelopment of a key location at the heart of the College Avenue campus. The demolition supports the reimagining of a space central to student life and engagement for the Rutgers University-New Brunswick Campus. The proposed College Avenue Quad would function as the primary outdoor student program space for College Avenue. It has been designed to accommodate a range of activities and organize the placement of student life facilities, open space, and universally-accessible circulation. As a place for day-to-day gathering, active and passive recreation, and significant communitywide events and performances, this space is imagined as an inherently flexible public space realized on a scale greater than that found anywhere else at Rutgers - the place where those on or visiting the Rutgers University-New Brunswick campus come together for major activities and events.
