Economic Development Group
The Economic Development Group, ("EDG"), promotes the business and economic development interests within Institutional Planning and Operations, the university community, and local communities. They handle property management, lease management, rent collection, operating budgets, insurance, licensing, and compliance. EDG also provides oversite of Rutgers Faculty and Staff Short Term Housing Program, Rutgers Cinema, kite+key Rutgers Tech Store, and TeKCheK Rutgers Computer Repair Service. The group initiates marketing and event planning that drive additional traffic to retail located within student housing.
Our Retail Operations handle property management, rent collection, operating budgets, insurance and licensing, amd marketing initiatives and event planning for third-party retail located in student housing on New Brunswick and Newark Campuses.
Rutgers Cinema, located at the Plaza at Livingston Campus, is Rutgers owned and operated state-of-the-art three-screen, first-run movie theater featuring digital projectors, stadium seating, and surround sound. Rutgers Cinema is open to the Rutgers community and the general public 365 days a year. Rutgers Cinema offers discounted pricing, matinees, extended show times, private screenings, promotional events, private party rental, as well as a full-line of concessions and an arcade. kite+key is Rutgers owned and operated technology store offers products from Apple, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asus and more. TeKCheK, kite+key's in-house certified repair facility, will service in and out of warranty computers. kite+key offers education pricing to students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Other services include cellphone plans, accidental damage and warranty protection, cracked cell phone screen repair, loaner laptops, and leasing programs. kite+key facilitates institutional sales, leasing, and complete life-cycle management., and is the Commuter Reward Program sponsor for Newark and Camden campuses. Market-rate, short-term apartment rentals are available to all faculty, staff, and visiting scholars in need of temporary housing. Inventory consists of studio, one-and two-bedroom apartments with locations in Highland Park, New Brunswick, and Piscataway (on the Busch Campus). All apartments are fully furnished with kitchen and linen set-up, and include utilities, cable, and internet. Leases can be as short as one month with a maximum of one year.
